Warranty Policy
This Warranty Policy explains how warranty claims may be handled for eligible repair and service work performed by NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co.
Because commercial trucks, diesel engines, trailers, generators, fleet vehicles, and industrial equipment contain many interconnected systems, a problem occurring after service does not automatically mean that the previous repair has failed.
Warranty eligibility depends on the specific work performed, the parts installed, the cause of the subsequent problem, the written warranty terms applicable to the original service, and the condition of the vehicle or equipment when the claim is evaluated.
This policy does not create a universal warranty period for every service. Any applicable warranty duration, coverage, limitation, or special condition should be identified in the invoice, work order, estimate, authorization, or other written documentation for the applicable repair.
By requesting warranty consideration, you agree to allow the reported problem to be evaluated according to this policy and any specific warranty terms attached to the original service.
Scope of This Warranty Policy
This policy may apply to eligible repair work involving supported commercial vehicles and diesel-powered equipment, including:
- Commercial trucks
- Semi-trucks
- Heavy-duty trucks
- Fleet vehicles
- Diesel engines
- Electrical and starting systems
- Fuel systems
- DPF, DEF, and aftertreatment systems
- Truck brakes and suspension
- Commercial trailers
- Semi-trailers
- Generators
- Construction equipment
- Industrial diesel equipment
- Diesel-powered pumps
- Other supported equipment
Not every type of service automatically carries the same warranty.
Different work may involve different parts, repair methods, supplier warranties, operating conditions, and service limitations.
When Warranty Coverage Applies
Warranty coverage applies only when the applicable repair was expressly provided with warranty protection by NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co.
The written service documentation should establish the applicable coverage.
Depending on the repair, relevant documentation may include:
- Invoice
- Work order
- Repair authorization
- Written estimate
- Warranty statement
- Parts documentation
- Manufacturer warranty information
- Other written service records
If a specific warranty period or condition appears in the documentation for a particular repair, that specific written term controls the applicable coverage.
Do not assume that warranty terms from one service automatically apply to another repair.
No Universal Warranty Period
NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co. does not represent through this general website policy that every repair carries the same number of days, months, miles, engine hours, or operating cycles of warranty coverage.
Warranty duration may vary according to:
- Type of repair
- Component installed
- Part supplier
- Manufacturer terms
- Equipment application
- Customer-supplied components
- Nature of the service
- Other transaction-specific conditions
The warranty period applicable to an eligible repair, if any, should be determined from the written documentation associated with that service.
Workmanship Warranty Coverage
Where workmanship warranty coverage is expressly provided, it applies to the specific labor or repair procedure identified in the applicable service documentation.
A workmanship warranty generally concerns whether the covered repair was performed in accordance with the agreed scope of work.
It does not automatically extend coverage to:
- Unrelated components
- Systems not serviced
- New failures
- Normal wear
- Previously damaged parts
- Customer-supplied components
- Problems developing elsewhere in the vehicle or equipment
If a warranty claim appears to involve workmanship, we may need to inspect the original repair before determining whether warranty coverage applies.
Parts Warranty Coverage
Replacement parts may be covered by warranties provided by the manufacturer, supplier, distributor, or another applicable warrantor.
Parts warranty terms can differ significantly.
A part may have its own requirements concerning:
- Warranty duration
- Mileage
- Engine hours
- Installation
- Inspection
- Return of the failed component
- Proof of purchase
- Labor reimbursement
- Commercial use
- Exclusions
- Claim processing
The existence of a manufacturer’s or supplier’s parts warranty does not automatically mean that all diagnostic labor, removal labor, installation labor, travel, towing, downtime, or other associated costs are also covered.
Coverage will depend on the applicable written warranty terms.
Manufacturer and Supplier Warranties
Certain replacement components may be subject to warranties controlled by manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, or other third parties rather than NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co.
Where a third-party warranty applies, the claim may be subject to that provider’s procedures and requirements.
These may include:
- Returning the failed part
- Providing the original invoice
- Providing serial or part numbers
- Allowing inspection
- Waiting for supplier authorization
- Following manufacturer diagnostic procedures
- Meeting warranty deadlines
We cannot expand, modify, or guarantee a third-party warranty unless expressly authorized to do so.
Customer-Supplied Parts
If NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co. agrees to install a part supplied by the customer, warranty treatment may differ from repairs using parts obtained as part of our service.
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, we do not warrant the quality, compatibility, manufacturing condition, authenticity, durability, or performance of a customer-supplied part.
Problems involving a customer-supplied component may remain between the customer and the seller or manufacturer of that part.
If the supplied component is:
- Incorrect
- Defective
- Used
- Damaged
- Incompatible
- Improperly programmed
- Missing required hardware
- Different from the specified component
Additional labor or diagnostic charges may apply.
Any warranty on labor associated with customer-supplied parts must be expressly confirmed in the applicable service documentation.
Warranty Coverage Is Limited to the Original Repair
Repairing one component does not create a warranty covering the entire vehicle, engine, trailer, generator, or machine.
For example, replacing or repairing a starter does not automatically warrant:
- Batteries
- Alternator
- Wiring
- Grounds
- Engine
- Fuel system
- Electronic controls
- Other starting-related components
Similarly, repairing an electrical circuit does not create warranty coverage for every electrical component on the truck.
Warranty evaluation focuses on the specific work originally performed.
Similar Symptoms Do Not Automatically Mean the Same Failure
A vehicle or machine may develop the same symptom for more than one reason.
For example, a truck that will not start may experience:
- Battery failure
- Starter failure
- Wiring problems
- Ground problems
- Fuel-delivery problems
- Sensor faults
- Control problems
- Mechanical engine issues
If a customer reports that “the truck is doing the same thing again,” the condition still needs to be evaluated.
A recurring symptom is not automatically proof that the original repair failed.
Diagnostic Services and Warranty Coverage
Diagnostic service identifies or narrows the cause of a problem based on the evidence available at the time of testing.
A diagnostic result does not constitute a warranty that:
- No other fault exists
- Another component will not fail
- An intermittent fault will never return
- Every possible system has been inspected
- The entire vehicle or machine is trouble-free
Diagnostic work may identify one failure while another unrelated problem remains or develops later.
Warranty coverage for diagnostic services, if any, is limited to the specific terms associated with the original service.
Additional Problems Discovered After Repair
Some faults become visible only after another problem has been corrected.
For example, a vehicle that initially does not crank cannot always be fully evaluated for:
- Engine performance
- Charging behavior
- Fuel pressure under operation
- Aftertreatment behavior
- Cooling performance
- Other running conditions
Once the first failure is repaired and the equipment operates again, another problem may become apparent.
The discovery of an additional problem does not automatically mean that the first repair was defective.
Pre-Existing Conditions Are Not Covered
Warranty coverage does not extend to problems that existed before the original repair unless those conditions were specifically included in the authorized work.
Pre-existing conditions may include:
- Corrosion
- Damaged wiring
- Worn connectors
- Existing leaks
- Prior fault codes
- Worn mechanical components
- Previous incomplete repairs
- Contaminated fluids
- Structural damage
- Damaged fasteners
- Improper modifications
- Aftermarket wiring
- Existing brake wear
- Existing engine damage
- Poor previous maintenance
A repair to one identified problem does not transfer responsibility for unrelated pre-existing conditions to NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co.
Normal Wear and Maintenance Are Not Warranty Failures
Commercial vehicles and diesel equipment contain components that naturally wear through use.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, warranty coverage does not apply to ordinary maintenance or expected wear.
Examples may include:
- Fluids
- Filters
- Lubricants
- Routine adjustments
- Normal brake wear
- Normal battery aging
- Belts
- Hoses
- Friction materials
- Other maintenance items
The fact that an item requires later maintenance does not mean a previous service was defective.
Damage Caused by Continued Operation
Continuing to operate a vehicle or machine after warning signs appear can cause additional damage.
Warranty coverage may be denied or limited where damage results from continued operation after the customer knew or reasonably should have known that the equipment had a significant problem.
Examples may include continuing to operate with:
- Severe overheating
- Low oil pressure
- Major coolant loss
- Significant fuel leakage
- Brake problems
- Charging failure
- Serious warning conditions
- Abnormal mechanical noise
- Loss of lubrication
- Unsafe wheel-end conditions
If a serious warning condition occurs, customers should stop operation when reasonably safe and seek appropriate assistance.
Misuse, Abuse, Accidents, and External Damage
Unless expressly required otherwise by applicable law or written warranty terms, warranty coverage does not apply to failures caused by events outside the original repair.
These may include:
- Collision
- Road impact
- Physical damage
- Abuse
- Misuse
- Overloading
- Improper operation
- Flooding
- Fire
- Theft
- Vandalism
- Contaminated fuel
- Environmental damage
- Unauthorized modifications
- Improper jump-start procedures
- Other external causes
Warranty coverage is intended to address eligible issues relating to covered work, not unrelated damage occurring afterward.
Unauthorized Modifications or Subsequent Repairs
A warranty claim can become difficult to evaluate if another person modifies, removes, adjusts, dismantles, or repairs the same component before NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co. has an opportunity to inspect it.
Where reasonably possible, customers requesting warranty consideration should contact us before authorizing another party to alter the claimed repair.
Warranty coverage may be affected when:
- Wiring has been changed
- Installed parts have been removed
- Adjustments have been altered
- Components have been dismantled
- Another technician has attempted repair
- Evidence necessary to evaluate the original work is no longer available
This does not prevent a customer from taking reasonable action required by an immediate safety emergency.
Electrical and Wiring Repair Warranty Claims
Electrical failures can be intermittent and can involve multiple circuits, connections, loads, grounds, modules, or components.
Warranty consideration for electrical repair generally focuses on the circuit or repair area originally serviced.
A later electrical complaint may not be covered when it results from:
- Another circuit
- New wiring damage
- Water intrusion
- Corrosion elsewhere
- Another failed component
- Aftermarket accessories
- Modified wiring
- External electrical damage
Electrical warranty claims may require testing before the relationship to the original repair can be determined.
Battery, Starter, and Alternator Warranty Claims
Starting and charging systems depend on multiple components working together.
A new starter does not prevent an alternator or battery from later failing. Similarly, replacing an alternator does not guarantee the future condition of batteries, cables, grounds, or other electrical loads.
Warranty evaluation may therefore include testing of:
- Battery condition
- Charging output
- Starter operation
- Cable condition
- Grounds
- Connections
- Electrical loads
Coverage applies only where the reported condition falls within the applicable warranty for the original repair.
DPF, DEF, and Aftertreatment Warranty Claims
Aftertreatment systems can develop problems because of components and operating conditions outside a previously serviced part.
A later DPF, DEF, SCR, regeneration, sensor, or derate complaint does not automatically establish that prior aftertreatment work has failed.
Potential contributing factors can include:
- Engine operating problems
- New sensor faults
- Fueling conditions
- Exhaust leaks
- DEF-system problems
- Electrical faults
- Changed operating conditions
- Other aftertreatment components
Warranty evaluation must identify whether the new complaint is actually connected to the previously covered repair.
Brake, Suspension, and Wheel-End Warranty Claims
Commercial brake and suspension components are exposed to load, road conditions, heat, friction, and wear.
A warranty claim involving these systems may require inspection of:
- The repaired component
- Adjacent components
- Wear condition
- Heat patterns
- Adjustment
- Air-system operation
- Load-related conditions
- Physical damage
Normal wear or failure of a separate wheel-end, brake, suspension, or chassis component is not automatically covered by a prior repair.
Trailer Repair Warranty Claims
Trailer systems can be affected by cargo loading, coupling, road conditions, yard handling, impacts, and continued commercial use.
Warranty consideration for trailer work applies to the repair originally performed.
It does not automatically cover later problems caused by:
- Loading damage
- Impact
- Dock damage
- Tractor interaction
- Cargo movement
- Separate brake faults
- Structural damage elsewhere
- Newly damaged wiring
- Landing-gear misuse
- Other unrelated conditions
Generator and Equipment Warranty Claims
Diesel generators, pumps, construction equipment, and industrial machinery can operate under conditions substantially different from highway trucks.
Warranty evaluation may consider:
- Engine hours
- Operating load
- Maintenance condition
- Fuel condition
- Environment
- Storage
- Duty cycle
- Continued operation after warnings
- Other machine systems
Repairing a diesel-engine problem does not automatically warrant every electrical, control, generator-output, hydraulic, pump, or machine component connected to that engine.
How to Request Warranty Service
Customers who believe an eligible repair has developed a covered problem should contact NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co. as soon as reasonably practical.
When making a warranty request, provide:
- Customer or company name
- Telephone number
- Original service date
- Invoice or work-order information when available
- Vehicle or equipment identification
- Current location
- Description of the original repair
- Description of the current problem
- When the new problem began
- Any warning lights or fault messages
- Whether another party has worked on the equipment since our repair
Providing complete information helps us identify the original service and determine the appropriate next step.
Warranty Claims Require Inspection or Evaluation
Submitting a warranty claim does not automatically establish that the claim is covered.
We must be given a reasonable opportunity to determine whether the reported condition is related to the original warranted work.
Evaluation may include:
- Reviewing the original invoice
- Reviewing previous diagnostic findings
- Inspecting the repaired component
- Testing the system
- Checking related components
- Reviewing fault information
- Examining the failed part
- Determining whether another failure is responsible
Coverage will be determined after the relevant information is reasonably evaluated.
Do Not Discard a Failed Part Before a Warranty Decision
Some parts warranties require inspection or return of the failed component.
Customers should not intentionally discard, destroy, or dispose of a suspected failed warranted part before contacting us where the component remains available.
If a manufacturer, distributor, or supplier requires return of the component, failure to make the part available may affect the third-party warranty claim.
Warranty Service Location
Because NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co. provides mobile services, warranty evaluation may sometimes be possible where the vehicle or equipment is located.
However, warranty coverage does not guarantee that every inspection or corrective repair can be performed at the customer’s preferred location.
Factors may include:
- Safety
- Accessibility
- Repair complexity
- Required tools
- Vehicle condition
- Equipment location
- Parts requirements
- Need for shop facilities
If the equipment must be relocated for appropriate evaluation or repair, applicable arrangements will be discussed.
Travel, Towing, Recovery, and Transportation Costs
Unless specifically included in written warranty coverage, a warranty on parts or workmanship does not automatically include:
- Towing
- Recovery
- Transportation
- Vehicle rental
- Equipment rental
- Cargo transfer
- Travel expenses
- Substitute equipment
- Hotel expenses
- Driver expenses
Any coverage for these costs must be expressly stated in the applicable written warranty terms.
Diagnostic Charges on Warranty Claims
A legitimate warranty claim may require diagnostic work to determine whether the reported issue is covered.
If evaluation confirms that the condition falls within applicable warranty coverage, treatment of diagnostic labor will depend on the warranty terms associated with the repair.
If testing determines that the problem is unrelated to the original repair, normal diagnostic or service charges may apply.
Any applicable charges should be communicated as part of the warranty evaluation process.
Available Warranty Remedies
If a claim is determined to be covered, the appropriate remedy will depend on the applicable warranty and the nature of the problem.
Where provided by the applicable warranty, remedies may include:
- Reinspection
- Correction of covered workmanship
- Repair of a covered issue
- Replacement of an eligible defective part
- Another remedy provided by the applicable written warranty
The remedy does not automatically include replacement of unrelated systems or reimbursement for costs outside the applicable warranty.
Refunds Are Not an Automatic Warranty Remedy
A reported problem after service does not automatically entitle the customer to a full or partial refund.
The first step is normally determining:
- What the current problem is.
- Whether it relates to the original repair.
- Whether the original work is covered by an applicable warranty.
- What remedy is provided under that warranty.
Any refund, credit, repair, replacement, or other remedy will depend on the applicable circumstances, written terms, and legal requirements.
Warranty Coverage Does Not Guarantee Continuous Operation
A repair warranty does not constitute a guarantee that a commercial truck, trailer, generator, fleet vehicle, or piece of equipment will experience no future downtime.
Commercial equipment contains numerous independent systems and components.
Unless expressly included in the applicable warranty, NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co. does not guarantee against:
- Future unrelated breakdowns
- New fault codes
- Normal wear
- Failure of another component
- Changes in vehicle performance caused by another system
- Future maintenance requirements
- Commercial downtime caused by unrelated conditions
Commercial Downtime and Consequential Losses
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law and the specific written warranty, warranty coverage does not automatically include indirect or consequential commercial losses.
These may include:
- Lost revenue
- Lost profits
- Missed deliveries
- Route disruption
- Driver downtime
- Cargo delay
- Rental equipment
- Substitute vehicles
- Missed jobs
- Construction delays
- Event interruption
- Other business losses
Nothing in this policy excludes liability or remedies that applicable law does not permit to be excluded.
Warranty Coverage Cannot Be Transferred Automatically
Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable warranty documentation, warranty coverage is associated with the customer, vehicle, equipment, and repair identified in the original service records.
Sale, transfer, lease, reassignment, or change of ownership of the equipment does not automatically transfer warranty rights.
Any transferability must be determined from the applicable written warranty terms.
Proof of Original Service
Customers should retain their:
- Invoice
- Work order
- Receipt
- Estimate
- Warranty documentation
- Parts information
- Other relevant service records
These documents can help identify the original repair and applicable warranty terms.
We may also maintain service records according to our normal record-retention practices.
Fraudulent or Misrepresented Warranty Claims
Warranty coverage may be denied where a claim involves intentional misrepresentation, altered records, concealed damage, false service information, or other fraudulent conduct.
Customers should provide accurate information about:
- Current symptoms
- Subsequent repairs
- Accidents
- Modifications
- Continued operation
- Maintenance
- Other events that may affect the claimed failure
Accurate information allows the claim to be evaluated properly.
Relationship to Our Service Terms
This Warranty Policy should be read together with our Service Terms.
The Service Terms govern matters such as:
- Service requests
- Dispatch
- Diagnostics
- Repair authorization
- Parts
- Customer responsibilities
- Payments
- Field-service limitations
- Safety
- Additional repairs
This Warranty Policy specifically governs warranty evaluation and coverage for eligible completed work.
If a specific written warranty provided with a service contains terms that differ from this general policy, the more specific written warranty terms will generally control that repair to the extent permitted by law.
Relationship to Our Cancellation Policy
The Cancellation Policy governs cancellation and rescheduling of service calls.
Once authorized warranty service has been scheduled, cancellation or inability to access the vehicle or equipment may also be subject to applicable scheduling, dispatch, or cancellation terms.
A warranty claim does not automatically eliminate charges resulting from unrelated cancellations, inaccessible equipment, unnecessary dispatch, or services outside warranty coverage.
Relationship to Manufacturer Warranties
This Warranty Policy does not replace, modify, or extend warranties independently provided by vehicle, engine, equipment, or component manufacturers.
Customers may have separate rights under:
- Manufacturer warranties
- Supplier warranties
- Parts warranties
- Equipment warranties
- Other applicable agreements
Eligibility under one warranty does not automatically establish eligibility under another.
Rights Provided by Applicable Law
Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to waive, restrict, or eliminate rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived or limited.
Applicable warranty and repair rights may vary depending on:
- Customer type
- Vehicle or equipment type
- Location
- Nature of the transaction
- Commercial or personal use
- Applicable state or federal law
Where applicable law provides rights beyond this general policy, those legal requirements will control.
No Oral Modification of Written Warranty Terms
Statements made during general conversations should not be interpreted as creating warranty coverage beyond the written terms applicable to the repair.
Any material extension, modification, or special warranty commitment should be documented in writing by an authorized representative of NYC Mobile Diesel Repair Co.
This helps avoid misunderstandings concerning:
- Warranty period
- Covered parts
- Covered labor
- Exclusions
- Available remedies
- Special conditions
Changes to This Warranty Policy
We may update this general Warranty Policy to reflect changes in:
- Services
- Repair practices
- Parts policies
- Suppliers
- Business procedures
- Applicable law
- Other operational requirements
The current version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
Changes to this general policy do not automatically alter specific written warranty rights already provided for previously completed work where applicable law or the original agreement requires those rights to remain in effect.
